In Stafford, shops are busiest on Monday mornings and before holiday weekends, so a mid-week appointment gets a car seen faster. Labor rates across Texas vary by neighborhood and by shop type, from small independents to dealership service bays, and mobile mechanics now cover many routine jobs in the driveway. Before authorizing a repair, ask for the estimate in writing, whether the shop warranties parts and labor (12 months / 12,000 miles is common, some offer more), and whether it can provide a loaner or a shuttle. Check the listing for hours, the makes the shop works on and its Google rating, then call ahead, since walk-in capacity is limited at smaller shops.
Hours have not been published for this listing yet. Most businesses of this type in Stafford keep standard business hours, but call ahead to be sure, especially on weekends and holidays. The listed phone number is (281) 499-5131. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is motor-head.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.
Its Google rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 61 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.
Stafford is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. Getting around Stafford is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Texas's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

This was my first time going to motor-heads, i needed to get a flywheel resurfaced. Franks old school but very respectable he treated me with respect and did me a wonderful service, he explained to me what was done and my flywheel looks brand new and I can tell the job was done right! I was even able to pick up a few things for valentines from inside and was very welcomed. Im glad to have gone here and will definitely return for more work in the future.

Motorhead Machine Shop has been taking care of my family’s truck engines for generations. It started with my father and me bringing our engines here, and now my son and I continue to trust them with our engines. Frank is a straight shooter—he’s always honest about what’s needed, what isn’t, and what it will cost. That kind of integrity is hard to find these days. I truly appreciate the honesty, craftsmanship, and hard work that goes into every job. This is the kind of shop you stick with for life.

Very quick service! Got in on a Wednesday for front and valve cover cleaning, got a call the next morning at 10 am that they were already done! The owner, Mr. Frank, picked up the phone even while in the hospital after surgery. Talk about good customer service! Would 100% return to this location again, very great service.

Motor-head is an amazing shop! Frank, his daughter, and staff are phenomenal. They did a great job on our car's engine. They had very reasonable prices. Even after they were so helpful with any questions we had. I highly recommend Motor-head.

Took the engine from my 69 mustang rebuild to the shop to check for cracks and if none bore the cylinders out. The work performed by frank and his team was phenomenal and the amount of detail and knowledge was remarkable. Being the first rebuild my knowledge was limited to reading but frank provided tons of help and insight even past the machine work he provided. Can't wait to rebuild the engine they worked on.
